2007 In Review

It was an eventful year at Pacific Aviation with every department having enjoyed some measure of growth.

It began with the Transport Department’s move to a larger facility on La Cienega Blvd. and the establishment of a permanent base there.

In May, the Flight Operations Department began providing Aircraft Dispatch services to ANA and Malaysia Airlines. Shanghai Cargo Airlines followed during the summer with Flight Operations, Crew Administration, Load Control and Ramp Coordination.

As the summer came to a close, so did the transportation services for the Interim Business Class Lounge at LAX, which finally closed in October after a year in operation. Although a challenging project, the IBCL afforded Pacific Aviation the opportunity to demonstrate its reliability while providing scheduled services to the Premium passengers of the many fine carriers at the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

The requirement for transportation on the airfield at LAX did not end with the IBCL. In September, the company was contracted by the City of Los Angeles to provide scheduled transportation services to the remote gates from the Tom Bradley International Terminal. The request for these temporary services came at short notice but the company was able to meet the challenge and exceed expectations throughout the term of the project.

The fall proved to be even more exciting as Pacific Aviation had the honor of beginning Passenger Service handling on behalf of KLM in San Francisco on October 28th.  Passenger Handling start-ups for Japan Airlines and Malaysia Airlines in LAX followed only four days later. Despite the heavy workload associated with three nearly simultaneous start-ups, one airline official commented, “This is the smoothest startup I have ever experienced”.

The Directors wish to express their gratitude to the many individuals and organizations that entrusted Pacific Aviation to provide services on their behalf during this past year. Sincere thanks are also due to the company’s highly dedicated Management Team, without whom these successes could not have been achieved.

Last December, Pacific Aviation hosted a holiday party for its LAX employees. Staff from every department enjoyed great food, games, dancing and a lot of very loud chanting! To say the event was a success is truly an understatement and we wish to thank all those who put in their time and effort to make it all happen. It will be an effort to improve upon this event next year but certainly all involved will be eager to try.
